The Columbia University Board of Trustees released a statement Wednesday saying they strongly support President Minouche Shafik, who has faced calls for her resignation amid intense pressure to rein in days-long protests. In an evening update, the Texas Department of Public Safety said that 34 arrests had been made by law enforcement on the campus as of 9 p.m. The university "supports free speech through open dialogue that is respectful and constructive," the officials said. Graffiti described as “hateful” has been painted on campus, the officials said. House Speaker Mike Johnson called Wednesday for the resignation of the university’s president if she can't "bring order to this chaos."

The St. Louis Cir­cuit Court also con­tains dozens of cas­es per­tain­ing to Robert Camp­bell busi­ness inter­ests cir­ca 1838–1879. The Muse­um not only pre­serves the Camp­bells’ house, but also their col­lec­tion of orig­i­nal fur­ni­ture, fix­tures, paint­ings, objects and thou­sands of pages of fam­i­ly doc­u­ments.

To the right of the dark wood-paneled entry hall is a light, gilded French reception room where Grace Campbell received her visitors. Guest Cottages

The large main house, with offset service wing, and the adjacent carriage house were carefully designed to suit particular functions. Campbell House Museum, located in the oldest surviving building from the Town of York, is a vibrant public space that inspires and educates visitors through its history, collections, and unique context in the heart of downtown Toronto. House has been metic­u­lous­ly restored to how it appeared in the Camp­bells day. Fur­ni­ture has been placed where it was, the car­pet­ing and wall­pa­per recre­at­ed, and paint analy­sis per­formed on the walls, ceil­ings, and wood­work, pro­duc­ing the exact same col­ors and pat­terns there in the 1880s. Cit­i­zens expressed con­cern for the fate of Lucas Place’s last sur­viv­ing res­i­dence.

Experience Spokane in the Early 1900s

This col­lec­tion from the St. Louis Cir­cuit Court con­tains the records from the Hazlett K. Camp­bell estate case that began in 1938. The col­lec­tion is made up of tes­ti­mo­ny and evi­dence from indi­vid­u­als (both legit­i­mate and not legit­i­mate) mak­ing claim to the Camp­bell estate. Pri­mar­i­ly con­sists of genealog­i­cal records–birth, death and mar­riage cer­tifi­cates in addi­tion to pho­tographs, per­son­al let­ters and oth­er doc­u­ments dat­ing from the 1760s to the 1930s.

Tour Reservations

A local history group called the William Clark Society began to organize an effort to save the building and its contents as a museum. The committee formed for the task included architectural historian John Bryan, eminent Missouri historian Charles van Ravenswaay and director of the St. Louis Art Museum Perry Rathborne. Lim­it­ed free park­ing is avail­able in the lot direct­ly next to the Muse­um. Street park­ing is avail­able at park­ing meters (free on Sun­day) on both Locust and 15th Streets.

Early restorations (1973–

As a small non­prof­it foun­da­tion, the Camp­bell House Muse­um receives no state, local, or fed­er­al fund­ing of any kind.

The Camp­bel­l’s house in 1885 does not rep­re­sent a sin­gle peri­od styl­is­ti­cal­ly, but rather reflects the fam­i­ly’s ongo­ing ren­o­va­tion and con­stant­ly chang­ing tastes. While the sto­ry of the Camp­bell house and fam­i­ly is com­plex, it is also one of the rich­est and most fas­ci­nat­ing looks at the lives of any 19th Cen­tu­ry Amer­i­can fam­i­ly. It’s a sto­ry that details an immi­grant’s expe­ri­ence, entre­pre­neur­ial suc­cess, the cre­ation of a show­place res­i­dence and the growth of a fam­i­ly and city dur­ing one of Amer­i­ca’s most dynam­ic peri­ods of history.

This immersive dance-theatre experience invites audiences to choose to act as witness or accomplice to the characters’ stories. An immersive horror opera, Tales of the Grotesque invites visitors to explore Victorian Toronto through the eyes of literature’s most twisted author, Edgar Allan Poe, and come tapping at the door to the unknown. When her dreams invade the waking world, a misfit storyteller leaves high society behind as she’s whisked away to a universe of her own making.

Micro­film copies (30 reels) avail­able at the Camp­bell House. Restora­tion Work BeginsIn Feb­ru­ary 2000, the restora­tion of the House start­ed with the pack­ing and stor­ing of the entire Muse­um col­lec­tion. The exte­ri­or restora­tion was com­plete by mid-2001 (the inte­ri­or and exte­ri­or restora­tion of the Car­riage House was com­plet­ed in 1998).

Camp­bell busi­ness records can also be found in the Sub­lette papers. The orig­i­nal house was of a large town­house design — a rec­tan­gu­lar plan, three floors with an attic and Eng­lish base­ment and a two sto­ry floun­der wing at the rear. The cast iron bal­cony on the front of the house is Goth­ic in detail, while the front entry­way is in the Greek-Revival style pop­u­lar dur­ing the 1840s.
